Why is the world’s most famous chatbot so often wrong about simple facts?

ChatGPT has gotten an incredible amount of hype over the last month, much of it coming from this website. At a rough estimate, 50% of my Medium feed is get-rich scams, 25% is “you won’t believe this happened to me” stories, and 25% is “ChatGPT is going to destroy/save the planet!”
